Demonstration lessons

The best way to support teachers to try new ways of teaching is to get into their classroom, with their students, and show them. I love doing demonstration lessons as it is effective teacher professional development but it also keeps me in touch with face to face teaching. I also get to try ideas that I think about and talk about with teachers. Statements like “my students can’t do mental computation” are like red flags to me. My response is “I think they can, let me show you”.
